- Plantation Management and Monitoring:
- Conduct routine garden visits to observe plantation condition and maintenance status.
- Implement and track silvicultural activities (weeding, pruning, thinning, fireline upkeep).
- Identify gaps in plantation performance and initiate quick corrective measures.
- Map high-risk gardens (fire, grazing, pests, drought stress) and follow up weekly.
- Tree Survival Data Collection:
- Conduct scheduled survival assessments at defined post-planting milestones.
- Record accurate stocking, mortality, and health indicators using approved tools.
- Provide survival feedback to farmers and agree on improvement actions.
- Update and register farmer/garden details not captured during PSR.
- Farmer Engagement and Education (Technical Focus):
- Train farmers on correct planting, maintenance, and protection techniques.
- Demonstrate practical silviculture methods in gardens (spacing, pruning, thinning).
- Reinforce farmer responsibilities under signed contracts (contracts led by Farmer Relations).
- Mobilize farmers for seasonal maintenance campaigns and technical meetings.
- Coordination and Community Engagement:
- Work with local leaders to promote protection of plantations and compliance.
- Support mobilisation of farmer groups for training and planting events.
- Identify model gardens and farmers for demonstrations.
- Coordinate with Farmer Relations counterparts on joint farmer sessions and issues.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Submit weekly reports on silviculture done, survival findings and risks.
- Maintain garden files with clear activity history and survival records.
- Document mortality causes and corrective actions taken per garden.
- Provide evidence packs for audits and carbon verification when needed.
- Compliance and Environmental Protection:
- Enforce fire prevention and environmental protection practices in all gardens.
- Ensure safe, responsible use of inputs and tools.
- Report serious environmental or safety incidents immediately.
- Promote sustainable land-use principles with farmers.
- Support to NH Operations During Peak Seasons:
- Assist NH teams during planting peaks with mobilisation and site readiness checks.
- Support seedling transport monitoring and planting quality supervision.
- Help validate PSR data and correct garden records where needed.
- Report establishment issues to supervisors for immediate action.
- Any other tasks as assigned by management:
- Participate in training or pilots as directed.
- Support peer coordinators in high-load areas when reassigned.
- Contribute to community consultations as needed.
- Support emergency response actions during fire/pest events.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Plantation quality and compliance with standards.
- Farmer technical compliance and participation.
- Accurate and timely survival data submitted.
- Service demand and remobilisation levels.
- Timely reporting and resource accountability.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Diploma in Natural Sciences, Forestry, Agriculture, or related field is preferred.
- Experience in plantation management, silviculture, or agricultural extension.
- Strong communication skills for farmer training and community engagement.
