Role Summary
The Branch Coordinator is responsible for supervising Parish Coordinators, providing technical, logistical, and welfare support to ensure effective implementation of Kijani Forestry’s programs. The Branch Coordinator plays a key role in validating data, verifying information provided by Parish Coordinators, and serving as the point person for pitching contracts to farmers. They work closely with the Area Coordinator to align activities with company objectives and ensure high standards of program delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Supervision of Parish Coordinators
- Oversee the performance and activities of Parish Coordinators to ensure program goals are met.
- Provide guidance and support to Parish Coordinators in addressing challenges and improving efficiency.
- Conduct regular one on one check-ins with Parish Coordinators to monitor progress and resolve issues.
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor the activities of Parish Coordinators and assess progress.
- Use insights from monitoring to recommend improvements to operations.
Technical Support
- Offer advice on tree nursery establishment, seedling production, and tree planting techniques.
- Provide Parish Coordinators with the necessary training to support farmer groups.
- Assist in troubleshooting technical problems encountered during field operations.
Logistical Support
- Coordinate the timely distribution of materials, tools, and resources to Parish Coordinators.
- Ensure adequate supplies are available to support nursery and planting activities.
- Collaborate with the Area Coordinator to address logistical challenges and streamline operations.
Welfare Support
- Address welfare concerns raised by Parish Coordinators to ensure their well-being.
- Facilitate team-building activities and promote a positive working environment.
- Advocate for Parish Coordinators’ needs to the Area Coordinator and management.
Data Validation and Verification
- Validate data collected by Parish Coordinators to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Verify records related to farmer registrations, nursery establishment, seedling production, and tree planting.
- Ensure proper use of the Kijani App for data entry and reporting.
Farmer Contracts
- Act as the primary contact for presenting contracts to farmers and securing their agreement.
- Explain the terms and benefits of Kijani’s partnership program to farmer groups and individuals.
- Collect signed contracts and ensure proper documentation.
Store and Inventory Management
Manage branch-level inventory of tools, materials, and resources for nursery and planting activities.
Conduct regular stock-taking exercises to ensure accurate inventory records.
Monitor the use and distribution of resources to Parish Coordinators, ensuring accountability.
Ensure proper storage and maintenance of all inventory items.
Submit inventory reports to the Area Coordinator and recommend replenishments as needed.
Documentation, Reporting, and Accountability
Maintain detailed records of all branch-level activities, including data on nurseries, seedlings, farmer registrations, and tree planting progress.
Ensure timely submission of accurate reports to the Area Coordinator.
Oversee accountability processes for resources distributed to Parish Coordinators, including tools, seeds, and materials.
Use digital tools like the Kijani App to manage documentation and streamline reporting.
Community Engagement
- Foster strong relationships with local leaders, authorities, and other stakeholders.
- Organize and attend meetings with community representatives to promote Kijani’s programs.
- Act as an ambassador for Kijani Forestry within the branch’s operational area.
Internship Program:
- Identify suitable candidates from the local community and perform the initial due diligence of the identified candidates to ensure their behavior aligns with the company’s culture and core values.
- Collaborate with the Area Coordinator to ensure candidates are interviewed appropriately.
- Ensure that PC-Trainees receive the training needed to build expertise in Kijani forestry practices.
- Oversee and evaluate their performance in the field.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations during all field activities, including the use of protective gear.
- Promote sustainable practices, emphasizing waste management to promote soil conservation, water management, and biodiversity protection.
- Conduct regular assessments with the farmers to confirm adherence to environmental standards and regulatory requirements.
Requirements, Skills & Competencies
- Minimum of a certificate or diploma in any field, preferably in agroforestry or related fields.A degree is an added advantage.
- Proven experience in a supervisory or managerial role
- Ability to work in remote locations and travel extensively within the branch area.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong leadership, team management skills and interpersonal abilities.
- Analytical skills for planning and problem-solving.
- Proficiency in digital reporting tools and applications.
- Ability to work independently and under minimal supervision.
